With this post, I will take a break from Remy and talk about a nice piece of software that I find extremely helpful in my day to day finances. I have been a long time Mint user, and while it's great and will continue to use it, it doesn't help me plan ahead.
I have set up budgets and just watched them fail because I don't update them. In comes YNAB, you need a budget; this software is a great tool for tracking present and future expenses. It's all about setting a realistic budget and then tweaking it to account for month to month variations. I have set expenses, that cannot be tweaked, but then I have everyday things that are highly variable that must be changed constantly.
The goal of this software is help plan for the future and account for unexpected purchases that come up. I highly recommend it to everyone!
